Best sander out there, BUT …

By A Customer
Easily the best 1/2 sheet sander out there… beautifully balanced, quiet, effortless to move, and with virtually no vibration… and the variable speed control is great. BUT… totally frustrating in that it comes WITHOUT the punch plate needed for the thru-the-pad dust collection system to work… ‘had to hunt a week and drive the local dealer nuts until we located a punch plate from another model that works [#192523-3 for Model 9046]!!! Why Makita would make a truly great sander and not include the punch plate is beyond me. Order the sander AND the plate together… tried all the 1/2 sheets out there except Hitachi (couldn’t find it) and this is THE BEST! Plus, only this and Hitachi offer variable speed on a 1/2 sheet.
The best of the best sanders & Festool paper fits it too

By Woodsmithy
I have used the Makita Model 9046 1/2 sheet sander for 4 years. It is almost identical to this model.

I had the opportunity to do a hands on evaluation of 1/2 sheet sanders. I liked the ruggedness Porter-Cable, the economy of the Milwaukee, and the feel of the Bosch, but the Makita is in a class of it’s own.

At first it seemed a little heavy, but after I got use to it and let it work, it did a fantastic job. This 1/2 sheet sander oscillates much more than the others and does the job in half the time. It leaves the surface dead flat and is very kind to veneer.

It has vacuum pich-up holes in the paper/sander like a random orbital sander. If you hook it up to a vac the dust is minimal ( This may require a little tape around the outlet to fit your hose). The punch plate does not come with the sander. So unless you can find the special pre-punched paper, you need to order the plate from a Makita rep or make one.

I do not recommend starting with 80 grit paper. This sander can be very aggressive, so start with the finest grit that will do job.

Added January 2009
The bad news is that I recently ran out of the pre-punched Makita sandpaper and my local shop stop carrying it. Sometimes when I’m working on a small project, it’s really nice to have the pre-punch hook & loop paper for fast/easy grit changes. The good news is that I did some investigating and discovered that the Festool ½ sheet hook & loop is interchangeable with the Makita. Of course the Festool paper is no bargain but it works great on my Makita sander and the dust control is awesome.

Eight years of intermittent use and it still runs great.

Smooth! Quiet! Reliable! Incredible! I Love It!

By Donald J. Junk
My application requires a minimum dust sanding system (house with air heating ducts). I could not find any vendor selling the vacuum hose and punch plate for the BO4900V sander so they were ordered directly from Makita. The sander was ordered from Amazon. When all parts arrived from the two vendors nothing fit. Called the the Makita Service Center and talked to Dalton who resolved the problem (one of the parts was was quickly replaced). The question was asked: why don’t you include the punch plate with the sander? Answer: many customers don’t need or use the punch plate and so it gets lost; this just adds to the price of the sander. This is a quality punch plate (1/2 lb steel), rugged, accurate, virtually indestructible and worth the price. Wait! There’s more! The edge of the sanding pad has air holes to vacuum dust from the two long sides of the sander without the punch plate; but it’s even better with holes in the sandpaper from the punch plate. I am now the proud owner of a great sanding system!
Tea with Mrs. McGill anyone?

By Ghenghis
OK, who cares if it’s „unrealistic.” In the very small Hockey Genre this is without a doubt the best of the bunch. Why…because it’s entertaining.

Rob Lowe and Swayze at their peak and a goofy first entry by Keanu Reeves gave us a glimpse of things to come. He cant act. The only downside to this flick is the highly irritating „lets get it on and make my dad angry” content but other than that a fun, and sometimes funny film. Gets better with age.

The DVD is very very good with 4 stars for both the widescreen video and audio that you can’t tell from 5.1, no extras but who cares. Four stitches.
„Lets Go Pretty Boy” ~ Coming Of Age On And Off The Ice

By Brian E. Erland
`Youngblood’ is a slickly produced sports (hockey), coming of age film from ’86 with a lot of good looking young men to (Rob Lowe, Patrick Swazee and Keanu Reeves) keep the girls watching, fast moving game sequences and the usual on the ice fights one has come to expect and look forward to in a hockey game. The storyline is predictable but enjoyable, the pounding, energetic `80′s soundtrack is excellent and the cast likeable. Not a bad way to while away an evening with a couple of buddies or a girlfriend.

My Rating: -3 1/2 Stars-.
One of the best made hockey movies ever

By Matthew Gaither
Youngblood accuretly shows the what hockey players go through around that teenage years while playing hockey. Some feel the movie is made to be more violent and all then hockey really is. Well first this movie was made in the 80′s when ice hockey was alot more violent and you can go and tell the canadians that played then that they were not as physical as the movie depicts. Thia movie shows what teams do to players on the team and the hardships endured with college hockey. I’ve played hockey for 14 years and play for college now and you go through alot at times but its fun and the movie shows it. This is one of the best hockey movies ever made 2nd to slapshot. This is a must buy.
Four of five films great; DVD problems explained & solution

By RES
These represent the Universal films outside the „Dracula” and „Frankenstein” franchises that starred Bela Lugosi–or more accurately, Karloff and Lugosi in all but one. Once Karloff entered the Universal scene a few months after „Dracula” (1931) and created such a hit with the Frankenstein monster–eclipsing Lugosi’s Dracula, the studio wasn’t keen to feature Lugosi as their horror star any longer: very ungrateful of them. So it leaves a „Lugosi Collection” from Universal largely as pairings with Karloff. „Murders in the Rue Morgue” (1932) is exclusively a Lugosi vehicle. In „The Black Cat” (1934), the two are matched. Lugosi dominates in „The Raven” (1935), while „The Invisible Ray” (1936) is more a Karloff vehicle. „Black Friday’ (1940), by far the weakest film, shouldn’t be here at all, as Lugosi only has a small role.

Since others have already spoken at length about the films, and since most people buying this two-sided disc know what they’re getting, I want to address the DVD mastering problems experienced. Many have noted that, regardless of player, films on the disc pixelate and freeze at random points. This is a problem with Universal’s DVD-18 mastering process, which has flaws that have since caused Universal to return to their earlier, more reliable DVD-9 process.

In the meantime, both this disc and the 2-DVD „The Hammer Horror Series” have more than their share of bad discs. Contacting Universal itself will serve no purpose: even though they are aware of the problem, the pressings are out there and are not being remastered. You just have to be persistent and keep exchanging defective copies at retailers–even if you have to get a refund and start again with another dealer; the films are worth it. Eventually, you *will* get one without glitches. It took me three copies from two places for both this and „The Hammer Horror Series.” Importantly, you don’t have to play through all the films in real time to know if you have a flawed copy: just scan through the films in the player at 4x-10x speed (no faster), and if there is a glitch, the player will freeze at the spot. That way, you don’t have to watch through eight 90-minute movies on every copy you try out; it will take only 10% of the time to check the set, and you don’t even have to be in the room. Lugosi (and Karloff) in some of Universal’s best classics

By pestcomics
I have enjoyed the well-priced Universal Legacy Collections featuring their classic monster films of the 30s and 40s and have been waiting and hoping for them to release the balance of their classic horror titles. This DVD collection is the one I have been wishing for. Now I will finally have two of my favorite horror films of the 1930s, „The Black Cat” and „The Raven,” on DVD.

As much as I am delighted by this set I find it an interesting and somewhat sad chronicle of Lugosi’s early film career. The disc features an early 30s film following his success in „Dracula” where he is the main star („Murders in the Rue Morgue” 1932), two films which team him in a role of equal stature with his rival, Boris Karloff („The Black Cat” and „The Raven,” 1934 and 35 respectively), a film which exploited the marquee value of his name but gave him a more minor role („The Invisible Ray” 1937), and, finally, a film which saw him slip into a rather demeaning supporting role („Black Friday” 1940) beside his old equal, Karloff.

Within eight years Lugosi had gone from full-fledged leading man to supporting actor. It must have compounded matters for Lugosi to have Karloff continue to receive leading roles while he was reduced to small supporting roles in Karloff’s films. The duo would work again in 1945 in RKO’s „The Body Snatchers” where Lugosi, again, played a minor role opposite Karloff’s much meatier portrayal. Lugosi’s career was on a steady downward slide by this point (with few exceptions like „Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein”) and would continue to decline through the next decade until his death in the mid-1950s.

The best part of this collection are the earliest films (pre-1937) which represent Universal’s golden age of horror. This era saw the original „Dracula” (1931), „Frankenstein” (1931), „The Invisible Man” (1933), and Universal’s masterpiece „Bride of Frankenstein” (1935). In the early 30s Universal was a studio committed to making quality horror films. In fact, these horror films saved Universal from certain bankruptcy in the dark days of the Great Depression (Abbott and Costello and Deanna Durbin would do the same for the studio ten years later). With the support of Carl Leammle, Jr. they produced A films with good scripts, good directors (Tod Browning, James Whale, etc.), moody sets and photography, amazing makeup by Jack Pierce, and wonderful casts.

As mentioned earlier, „The Black Cat” and „The Raven” are the two films I will enjoy most on this set and they alone are well worth the $20 dollar price tag. Both films take their titles from the works of Edgar Allen Poe but, unlike „Murders in the Rue Morgue,” that is where the connection ends. „The Black Cat” is a pre-code tale of revenge and Satanism set in a spectacular art deco mansion built on the site of a bloody World War I battlefield. Lugosi and Karloff are bitter enemies who meet for one final battle of wits. „The Raven” sees Lugosi as a demented, Poe loving, plastic surgeon who disfigures Karloff and blackmails him into aiding him in a plot to punish a woman who has scorned him. Both films are perfect vehicles for their two stars and represent the well-mounted, quality horror product Universal became famous for.
Great films but not a hint of restoration!

By JasKing
First of all, I will say right now I am a fan of Universal’s classic horror product including their B-movies of the 40s as well as a lifelong Lugosi fan. I am also very happy Universal chose to release this collection containing some of their best titles of the 30s („The Black Cat” and „The Raven” being the best on this set) and some of Bela Lugosi’s best work on film. Unfortunately, I have mixed feelings about this set. Let me go over the collection:

THE FILMS THEMSELVES:
Not a hint of restoration on any of the films. This to me is a huge disappointment. As far as I know Universal made no claims of restoration so they have not falsely advertised or anything. I guess I am just so spoiled by Warner’s classic releases which always seem to be restored and remastered.

The prints don’t look horrendous or anything but they could have looked spectacular. The prints they used to make this collection are probably what they show in syndication (like you’d be likely to see on TCM). There is a lot of graininess in all of the films. „The Raven” even has some blotchiness (like dirt on the print) in some early scenes. You can also see lots of scratches all over the place.

If MGM can take a film like „The Ghoul” that was once considered lost and make it look brand new then Universal could have invested some cash in restoring these classic horror films. They did a much better job with their Monster Legacy Collections. I am surprised they put no effort into this set. These are some of the most famous films they ever made!

P.S.: I strongly advise old-time horror fans to buy „The Ghoul”. Great film, great restoration.

THE EXTRAS:
All I can say to describe the extras in this collection is threadbare. All you get are some battered old trailers. They don’t even have a trailer for every film! Glaringly omitted is the famous trailer for „The Black Cat”. This is the one that had specially shot footage of Karloff and Lugosi in which they refer to each other as „Dracula” and „Frankenstein”. I have seen this trailer on AMC and TCM, it could have easily been included.

Worst of all there is no featurette. Couldn’t they have included even a little 10 or 15 minute feature to honor Lugosi?

PACKAGING:
I actually like the packaging here. There is a nice outer cardboard box that an inner cardboard holder fits into (similar to Warner’s „Citizen Kane”, „Casablanca”, and „Adventures of Robin Hood” releases). In typical Universal style there is only one double-sided disk. I have read a lot of complaints on Amazon about shoddy disks from Universal. I have never encountered one yet (knock on wood) and this disk played well for me.

BOTTOM LINE:
If you have been wanting these films since you got a DVD player, like me, then I would suggest getting this set ASAP. You can’t lose considering the price. If you want these films restored and looking their best then wait until the day Universal offers up new releases of restored and remastered prints of them. Who knows when that day will come?

I would give the films on this set 5 stars but can only give this specific release 3 stars.
Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.
Amazon Sales Rank: #608019 in Books

Brings ‘Sticky’ Ideas to a Nexus

By John Buckley
I read this book in part of one day – it’s a good, quick read. Unlike some of the people who didn’t care for the book – I never read the New Yorker article. It may be that the book doesn’t add enough new info to excite folks who have read that article. But to me the book threw out a good number of new ideas and concepts very quickly and very clearly. I found his ability to draw a nexus between things that, on the surface seem very divergent, was very interesting, and he did it smoothly, without jumping around a lot. The thrust of the book is that there are three things that can converge to bring about dramatic and perhaps unexpectedly fast changes in our society. These are the context (the situational environment – especially when it’s near the balance or ‘tipping point’), the idea, and the people involved. His point is that very small changes in any or several of the context, the quality of the idea (which he calls ‘stickiness’, ie how well the idea sticks), or whether the idea reaches a very small group of key people can trigger a dramatic epidemic of change in society. „In a given process or system some people matter more than others.” (p.19). „The success of any kind of social epidemic is heavily dependent on the involvement of people with a particular and rare set of social gifts.” (p.33). He divides these gifted people into three categories: Connectors, Mavens and Salespeople. „Sprinkled among every walk of life … are a handful of people with a truly extraordinary knack of making friends and acquaintances. They are Connectors.” (p. 41). „I always keep up with people.” (p. 44 quoting a „Connector”). „in the case of Connectors, their ability to span many different worlds is a function of something intrinsic to their personality, some combination of curiosity, self-confidence, sociability, and energy.” (p.49). „The point about Connectors is that by having a foot in so many different worlds they have the effect of bringing them all together.” (p.51). „The word Maven comes from the Yiddish, and it means one who accumulates knowledge.” (p. 60). „The fact that Mavens want to help, for no other reason than because they like to help, turns out to be an awfully effective way of getting someone’s attention.” (p.67). „The one thing that a Maven is not is a persuader. To be a Maven is to be a teacher. But it is also, even more emphatically to be a student.” (p.69). „There is also a select group of people — Salesmen — with the skills to persuade us when we are unconvinced of what we are hearing.” (p. 70). He goes on to describe an individual named Tom Gau who is a Salesman. „He seems to have some indefinable trait, something powerful and contagious and irresistible that goes beyond what comes out of his mouth, that makes people who meet him want to agree with him. It’s energy. It’s enthusiasm. It’s charm. It’s likability. It’s all those things and yet something more.” (p. 73).He then goes into the importance of actually gathering empirical data about ideas, and not just relying on theory or assumption to determine quality, or as he calls it, ‘stickiness.’ He gives examples of where assumptions have been debunked with data. „Kids don’t watch when they are stimulated and look away when they are bored. They watch when they understand and look away when they are confused.” (p.102). „Children actually don’t like commercials as much as we thought they did.” (p. 118) „The driving force for a preschooler is not a search for novelty, like it is with older kids, it’s a search for understanding and predictability.” (p. 126) Hence why your three year old can watch those Barney videos over and over until the tape breaks – it becomes predictable after the third or fourth viewing. This is probably also why Barney suddenly falls out of favor when predictability is less important than novelty. Finally, there’s a point he makes he calls the rule of 150. He starts with some British anthropologists idea that brain size, neocortex size actually, is related to the ability to handle the complexities of social groups. The larger the neocortex, the larger the social group that can be managed. She then charts primate neocortex size against known average social group sizes for various primates, other than humans. Then she plugs human neocortex size into the equation, and out pops 147.8, or about 150. Now that would be not so interesting, except that he goes on to talk about this religious group, the Hutterites. They are clannish like the Amish or Mennonites, and they have a rule that when a colony approaches 150, they split into two and start a new one. He follows that by noting that Military organizations generally split companies at 150-200. And then he talks about Gore – the company that makes Goretex, among other things. They have a ~150 employee per plant rule. „At a bigger size you have to impose complicated hierarchies and rules and regulations and formal measures to try to command loyalty and cohesion. But below 150…it is possible to achieve the same goals infomally.” (p.180)”When things get larger than that, people become strangers to one another.” (p.181)”Crossing the 150 line is a small change that can make a big difference.” (p. 183)On the whole, I thought the book sparked thought and converstaion, and will make me look at life and business a little differently. To me that’s a good book.
Junk Science…buyer beware!

By Craig Fisher
I know negative reviews tend to get dismissed or lost in the shuffle, especially for wildly popular books such as Malcolm Gladwell’s The Tipping Point; however, I think it’s important to chime in on how this book fails to deliver on its basic premise. In essence, the Tipping Point describes how certain types of people (who Gladwell refers to as connectors, mavens, and salesmen), and certain circumstances (the law of the few, the stickiness factor, and the power of context), can help turn fashion, books, television shows into epidemics, and turn crime waves and smoking trends upside-down. And here is where Gladwell’s Tipping Point fails: he uses the data of real-life examples to reason backwards in the formation of his theory. When read closely and critically, Gladwell only describes THAT things `tip’ and not WHY they `tip’. As Karl Popper said of Freudian Theory (and of all science), it must be falsifiable. Here it seems unlikely that any observation or experimental paradigm could be developed to falsify the theory of The Tipping Point, which again, makes this book not very scientific. For example, if a person or circumstance met one of Gladwell’s criteria, but failed to tip the item/situation, would it call his theory into question? You see where I’m going with this? If something was `sticky’ (which the law of stickiness says makes certain information at certain times, irresistible) but didn’t tip, does that mean it was never `sticky’, or does something need to tip in order for it to be deemed `sticky’. And now we’re talking circular logic, maybe backwards logic; the type of theory written on the back of a cocktail napkin at 2am that sounds like it explains everything. Again, not good science. I was really looking forward to this book, but the over-simplifications, sheer repetitiveness, and poor execution of writing scientifically made for a highly disappointing read.
Interesting Read

By A Customer
Malcolm Gladwell, a staff writer for New Yorker Magazine, in The Tipping Point, writes a fascinating study of human behavior patterns, and shows us where the smallest things can trigger an epidemic of change. Though loaded with statistics, the numbers are presented in a way that makes the book read like an exciting novel. Gladwell also gives several examples in history, where one small change in behavior created a bigger change on a national level. He also studies the type of person or group that it takes to make that change. Gladwell’s first example is the resurgence of the popularity of Hush Puppies, which had long been out of fashion, and were only sold in small shoe stores. Suddenly, a group of teenage boys in East Village, New York, found the cool to wear. Word-of-mouth advertising that these trend-setters were wearing the once-popular suede shoes set off an epidemic of fashion change, and boys all over America had to have the „cool” shoes.Galdwell also examines the difference in personality it takes to trigger the change. For example, we all know of Paul Revere’s famous ride, but how many of us know that William Dawes made a similar ride? The difference was that people listened to Revere and not to Dawes. Why? Revere knew so many different people. He knew who led which village, knew which doors to knock on to rouse the colonists. Dawes didn’t know that many people and therefore could only guess which people to give his message. There are several other phenomena that Gladwell examines, showing the small things that spark a change, from the dip in the New York City crime rate to the correlation between depression, smoking and teen suicide. If you want to change the world for the better, this book will give you an insight into the methods that work, and those that will backfire. It’s all in knowing where to find The Tipping Point.Jo @ MyShelf.Com
This had made walking my 100# dog enjoyable

By MyDog’sMom
My dog is reasonably well behaved but the instant he sees another dog when we’re out walking he pulls so hard I’m afraid he’s going to damage my shoulders. I tried several different anti-pulling harnesses and collars and this one worked perfectly! At one point I tried the Gentle Leader head collar, but my dog hated having something on his face so this harness version was much better for him. Since the leash attaches at the dog’s chest and contracts if the dog pulls, there are two benefits: (1) When the dog pulls, the harness contracts around the front legs making walking awkward so it breaks their attention on whatever they were pulling towards, and (2) since the leash attaches at the chest, when the dog pulls it snaps him around to face you which gives you a chance to correct him and redirect his attention. Ultimately, the dog’s weight works against him versus the owner having to pull back. Now when my dog sees another dog and goes to pull, he immediately stops and rethinks that move since he’s instantly pulled around to face me, without me having to do anything at all. A wonderful tool!
I will never use a choke chain again – this works better!

By A. Allen
This harness is phenomenal. I was a skeptic but I wish I bought it two years ago. My dog is a large, strong and athletic 3.5 year old and I struggled over the past two years we’ve had him to teach him leash manners. We have made a lot of progress but walking him was still a chore and he pulled excessively when he saw other dogs. I have had to use a choke chain even though I was uncomfortable doing so, and was constantly having to readjust it so it was on the right place of his neck. With this harness, he does NOT try to walk in front, he does NOT try to stop and investigate every single mailbox and telephone poll, and we can approach other dogs at MY pace, not his. The harness works because it tightens across his front shoulders. If he tries to go to the side (to sniff something) or out in front (to get somewhere faster) a *gentle* tug clinches his front legs and he responds immediately. It sets the tone for the entire walk and makes the walk relaxing and enjoyable for the human, too. I was thrilled with it from the first time I used it.

If you need to correct the dog, a gentle tug (very little force) will do it. But I have also found that I correct the dog much less often than before because the harness does it automatically as soon as he puts tension on the lead (before there is any actual pulling). For example if he starts to veer towards a fire hydrant he feels a slight tightening which stops the sideways movement and then instantly releases, rewarding him for returning to the path. This is why people say it is like walking a whole new dog- because the dog is on his very best behavior without any extra effort from the walker.

If you’re skeptical because you’ve heard people say, „With a harness, the dog can leverage his whole weight against it and pull harder,” know that this is not that type of harness. I mean, it isn’t a sled dog harness, people! Because it tightens across the front legs, the dog cannot leverage his weight against it. In fact he can pull harder with a choke chain because he is able to use the strength of all four legs.

My dog and I do a lot of walking (did I mention he’s large and athletic?) and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this harness. Of course I still let him pee on the occasional fire hydrant and pause to sniff a few mailboxes, but he gets more consistent exercise without the risk of neck injury. Best of all his „momma” is totally happy with his behavior. Walking him is now stress relieving instead of stress building, and I have a better relationship with my pet because of it.

This harness may not work for every dog or every human, but you must give it a try. You may be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

One final note: the harness is designed to prevent pulling forward, and works less well when trying to get the dog to continue walking if he stops to smell something. However it still exceeds a collar or choke chain in this regard, and, as described above, there is less stopping throughout the walk because of the instant corrections. Plus (in my experience anyway) teaching the dog „let’s go” is much easier than teaching to walk at heel.
Works well to limit pulling….

By K. Smith
I heard about this product on the Cool Tools blog and was pretty interested. I had tried the Gentle Leader that wraps around a dogs head, but my dog hated it (I didn’t like it much either) and would refuse to wear it.

I tried this one after my dog was slightly injured my a neighbors dog and the vet suggested we avoid any pressure on her neck for a while. This worked immediately and my dog loves it!!

It works very well for limiting her from pulling during a normal walk. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s not quite as good as a standard collar as far as keeping her inline when we are just standing around talking to people as it doesn’t really control her head at all. At the same time I’m not restraining her neck and „pulling” on her which I’ve always hated.

I would highly recommend it for anyone that has a dog that tries to pull a little too much.
Worthless product

By Thomas Jennings
I agree with the reviewer from Houston. My old rabbit ears work better and I don’t have to waste electricity by plugging it in. Rabbit ears pick up 13 channels. The Philips SCA050 Indoor Amplified UHF/VHF/FM/HDTV Antenna picks up three channels but fuzzier and they were all VHF.
There is no info on the Philips website. After a few phone calls I finally got a customer service agent who treated me like an idiot and had no answers.
Save yourself some money and go to the closet and pull out a wire hanger.
poor results, much disappointment

This antenna doesn’t provide an adequate signal; it is less than half as effective compared to the pair of rabbit ears that I had lying around the house.
Great Antenna, but don’t break the ears!

By R. CALIGIURI
This antenna works great as long as you don’t break one of the rabbit ears. The rabbit ears are delicate and don’t turn easily. I have to return the antenna and I am waiting for the replacement.
Good movie for whole family

By A Customer
When I saw this movie 1st time, I remember for my childhood, when I saw famous The NeverEnding Story first time. If you loved that movie, or E.T., or Indy Jones, then this movie is the right one for you. The only one thing I don’t like on this movie is, it’s too short. I’m glad that someone’s making the movies, where the strong story and very talented actor is more than action superheroes with their blazing guns.Jamie Williams (Mowgli) is very talented actor. It’s very believable that he’s real feral child in many scenes. His ability to play character’s emotions and his body speech is exceptional. Althought he was 10 and half years old only, he performed all stunt scenes in the movie. In few scenes, he didn’t show the fear, when he was about 5 feets far from the adult tiger, who was on thin lead only. Some review says that fake animals are used in some animal scenes. It’s not true. They used blue screens and split scenes few times, but all animals in the movie are real.
Great Adventure!!!!!!!

By A Customer
This movie is absolutely great. My parents recently bought it on DVD and we all watched it. It’s a great movie which would deserve a higher rating. Many people said that it is boring. I think they have said that because in the first 20 minutes of the movie no one is talking plus Mowgli isn’t talking. Well guess WHAT, Mowgli isn’t supposed to talk because he was raised by wolves. DUH!! So I really think people should give this movie a higher rating. This movie is the second jungle book movie where Mowgli finds himself wanted for a circus. Baloo and his other friends want to rescue him and save him. This is a good movie and demands our attention. I suggest that everyone should buy it or at least rent it. I am grateful my parents bought it for me. It’s GREAT!!!!
See this movie on DVD!

By DENNIS P OBRIEN
First of all, I would like to say, PLEASE do not be misled by the few negative customer reviews. Check out the honest editorial review. Also, I was puzzled to see only a few customer reviews for such an amazing and worthwhile film. This film is a prequel to Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, the live action film released by Disney. It looks and feels very similar to that film, as it was produced by the same team.My family was familiar with the VHS version. We loved the film, but we noticed some of the limitations in a few of the special effects sequences. We were also painfully aware of the limitations of the full frame format. This is truly one of the most stunning films we have seen on DVD! The improvement over the VHS version has to be seen to be believed. This is not just exaggerated praise. We have watched well over 200 movies on DVD, and this is one of the best. The film was shot entirely on location in beautiful Sri Lanka, and the cinematography is breathtaking. Now, thanks to the widescreen DVD format, you can see it all. Also, in widescreen you can now see all the actors. Many scenes were shot with four or five actors on screen. In full frame, two or three of them are always getting cut off. Many of the animal scenes have four or five species of animal in the picture. On VHS, you could only see two. Now you can see the whole stunning scene. The movie has everything — humor, drama, adventure, excitement, — and a hauntingly beautiful musical score. At the end, the entire family had tears of joy in their eyes.Special mention must be made of young Jamie Williams, who gives a most convincing performance. The film also stars Bill Campbell (The Rocketeer), and Roddy Macdowell in one of his last film roles.Do not let Columbia Tristar’s slightly higher price tag turn you away. And if you have only seen the VHS version, you really owe it to yourself to see the widescreen version on DVD.One word of caution. The film features Indiana Jones-like action sequences involving live pythons and cobras. It may be too intense for very young children.
‘Hard’ Is The Key Word Here

By Ben Wasden
Hard Hunted is another Andy Sidaris tittie flick with some action thrown in, as well as some boring mumbo jumbo. I honestly don’t know why this movie needed a plot, because it got in the way of what we really wanted to see: Hot women shooting bad guys while wearing next to nothing. Sure, we get that, but not near as much as I had hoped. This one’s okay, but for better Sidaris movies, try Hard Ticket To Hawaii, Day of the Warrior, and Return to Savage Beach.
Hard Hitting Beach fun

By A Customer
Arguably the greatest of work of cinematic pop culture in the last 25 years. „Hard Hunted” takes a deep look at the social impact of neglegant violence and capricious sex. This cross genre epic turns bicoastal, advantagously exploiting breathtaking sets in both LA and Molokai.Dialogue Hemmingway would have prided his claim to is illustrated in the chilling turning point of this film when Kane is compelled to send his underling and pilot of Raven („his mighty aircraft” as Kane so proudly endows the vicious warbird of combat) to Hawaii hot on the heels of stunning Donna Hamilton.Director Andy Sidaris spared no expense exercising mega star power with a statley performance in the opening scences by veteran actor/sports commentator extraordinaire Jim Lampley.
